sisters, Fengying and Fusheng, were separated in the chaos of war. One sister, Fengying, became an imperial consort while the other, Fusheng married a hunter named Liang Cheng. As the two consorts vied for favor with the emperor, they both sought to ingratiate themselves by offering gifts and flattering words.

At one point, the neglected consort thought of her long-lost sister and was granted permission to return home for a visit. However, on her way back from her visit to Fall Phoenix Slope , she encountered danger and was mistaken by her husband's family as his wife. The misunderstanding was eventually cleared up but not before she had shared many happy moments with him in their home in Luo Shan.

Meanwhile at court, a rival consort hatched a plot to frame the beloved consort as dead while sending someone else disguised as her to deceive the emperor into believing that she had returned safely. However this plan was discovered by Fengying who managed to escape just in time.

In desperation the rival queen sent men after Fengying again but this time they mistakenly captured Fusheng instead and strangled her with white silk cord . Fortunately a eunuch came forward who had been hiding nearby since he knew what had transpired earlier between them when they reunited at last - all three people were left confused about their relationships until it finally dawned on everyone that love is more than just appearances or titles; even if there are misunderstandings along the way love will always prevail because we are meant for each other no matter what life throws our way!
