This play was first performed in 1945 by actors Essie and Zhen. Another play, "断鸿零雁," tells the story of a man named Li Shaowen who leaves his home after his wife turns out to be unfaithful. He meets his aunt and cousin Wang Lijing, who invites him to her family's home. Despite having feelings for Lijing since childhood, Shaowen decides not to pursue her due to his marriage commitment. His former wife tries to sabotage their relationship but ultimately fails as Lijing decides to become a nun instead.

The second play was also performed by Essie and Zhen in 1946.
