第二天早晨，chapter resume her search in the ancient city, determined to uncover the truth about Lin Daiyu's past. She spent days researching and interviewing locals, until finally she stumbled upon a hidden courtyard deep in the city.
The courtyard was surrounded by high walls and guarded by an old man who looked like he had been there for centuries. The old man asked chapter what she was looking for, and when she told him about her quest to understand Lin Daiyu's past, he nodded slowly and invited her inside.
Inside the courtyard, chapter found a series of ancient scrolls that told the story of Lin Daiyu's life before she entered the Jia family. It turned out that Lin Daiyu had been in love with a young man named Xue Baochai before they were separated by fate. This revelation changed everything for chapter - it explained why Lin Daiyu was so devastated when Xue Baochai married another woman.
But just as chapter was about to leave the courtyard, she heard footsteps behind her. It was not the old guard but someone else - someone who looked eerily familiar.
"Who are you?" chapter demanded as she backed away from this stranger.
"I am Xue Baochai," replied this person calmly. "And you are very close to solving my wife's mystery."
chapter felt like all air had been sucked out of her body - how could this be? Was it really possible that Xue Baochai had come back from beyond death?
"What do you want me to know?" chapter asked hesitantly as tears began streaming down his face.
"I want you to know," he said between sobs, "that I never forgot my beloved Lin Daiyu nor did I ever forget our love story."
