adulthood came, and we started to face the challenges of life. We would often meet up for coffee or dinner, sharing our joys and sorrows with each other. When I got my first job, King was there to congratulate me; when she published her first book, I was by her side celebrating.
Those moments were not just about congratulating each other but also about supporting one another through thick and thin. We knew that no matter what happened in our lives, we could always count on each other to be there for us.
As time went on, life took us down different paths. But no matter where we were in the world, whenever we had the chance to meet up again it felt like no time had passed at all. We would sit down over a cup of tea or coffee and reminisce about old times.
I remember one day King brought out an old photo album filled with pictures from our childhood days together. As we flipped through the pages, memories came flooding back - playing in the park as kids, studying late into the night as teenagers...
We laughed together at how young and naive we once were but also marveled at how far we'd come since then.
Nowadays when I look back on those years spent with my dear friend Wang Wenjuan (King), I am filled with a mix of emotions: sadness because she is gone but gratitude for having had her by my side all these years.
That bridge between us may have been destroyed by fate's cruel hand but its impact will never fade away from my heart nor mind. It taught me that true friendship can transcend even death itself because it resides within you forever - a reminder of who you are today because of who they helped shape you into yesterday.
In this moment as I write these words down onto paper (or rather screen), I feel grateful for every second shared with King during our journey here on earth...
